Jul 18, 2019

Are you a vacation rental owner in Portugal? Or are you planning a trip to this beautiful country? Then, you might have you heard of the Portuguese Tourist Tax. If not - or if you have a ton of questions -, do not worry, Warmrental is here to help!

The Tourist Tax came into force on January 1, 2016, with the purpose of minimizing the difficulties that arise from the significant growth of tourism in Portugal. It is charged by tourist enterprises and local accommodation establishments to all guests (with a few exceptions). That is, a fee – determined by each participating municipality – is charged per night to those who sleep in hotels or local accommodation units. The Occupancy Tax should be collected at check-in and handed over to the competent authorities.

To make it easier for you, Warmrental created an article full of useful information on the Tourist Tax so that you know what you can count on.

In the article, we cover all the questions you might have:

  • What is the Portuguese Tourist Tax?
