Portugal Elected World's Leading Destination
On December 1st, Lisbon hosted for the first time the World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala Ceremony where the global winners of 2018 were announced. And guess what? Portugal has won 17 prizes!
Known as the Oscars of Tourism, WTA was founded in 1993 by Graham Cooke and searches for the "finest travel and tourism organizations in the world" in order to celebrate and reward them. That said, it is considered the most important night of the year for the travel and tourism industry. In 2018, WTA celebrates its 25th anniversary which made this event even more special.
Last year, Portugal was elected the best destination in the world - here at Warmrental, we totally understand why! -, so in 2018, and for the first time, Lisbon hosted the Grand Final - which, presumably, was a good omen. The ceremony will take place on December 1st in the landmark Pátio da Galé, in Terreiro do Paço, and Portugal has accumulated 16 prizes. Here some of them:
