The 32nd World Travel Awards 2025 ceremony took place on December 7th in Bahrain and distinguished Portugal with 12 awards, eight fewer than in 2024. The Algarve renewed its distinction as "World's Best Beach Destination", as did Madeira , which, for the eleventh consecutive time, won the trophy for "World's Best Island Destination," ahead of popular destinations such as Bali, Hawaii, and Jamaica.
For Eduardo Jesus, Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture and President of the Madeira Promotion Association, this distinction is "a reflection of the consistent work developed over the last few years, in partnership with the sector and with all those who promote and believe in the region," and highlights the "versatility and authenticity" of Madeira's tourism offerings.
