Portugal Collects 30 Awards At The World Travel Awards

Portugal won 30 tourism Oscars in the European edition of the World Travel Awards 2022, including Europe's Leading Destination. Porto, Lisbon, Algarve, and the Azores are among the winners, distinguished in the categories of destinations, services, and products. WarmRental tells you everything you need to know!

This is the 5th time that Portugal has won Europe's Leading Destination award in six years. After Greece's victory in the 2021 edition of the World Travel Awards, Portugal regains this title.

In addition to this distinction, Portugal won several other distinctions, among destinations, services, and products. Lisbon was considered Europe's Leading City Break Destination, Porto won the award for Europe's Leading City Destination, the Algarve was awarded Europe's Leading Beach Destination, and the Azores were distinguished as Europe's Leading Adventure Tourism Destination. “The distinction, in more than three dozen categories in the European edition of the World Travel Awards 2022, takes on particular significance after the difficult years of the pandemic. All the agents in the sector are to be congratulated for being up to this challenge, which is to affirm Portugal as a tourist destination of excellence, whatever the circumstances”, says the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce, and Services, Rita Marques.

The World Travel Awards, considered the Oscars of tourism, are awarded by professionals in the sector worldwide and aim to stimulate the competitiveness and quality of tourism.

Next month, on November 11, the world edition of the World Travel Awards will take place in Oman.
